19th Annual El Camino Heritage Golf Tournament
Tee up for teens to benefit adolecent mental health services at El Camino Hospital

Tee up for teens on "a tour of Italy" at the 19th annual El Camino Heritage Golf Tournament, a benefit for adolescent mental health services at El Camino Hospital. The date is Monday, October 20, 2014 and the location will once again be Ruby Hill Golf Club, a prestigious, private course nestled in the hills of historic Livermore Valley wine country. This important fundraiser offers something for everyone – golf on the Jack Nicklaus signature designed golf course or a tour of three Wente Vineyards tasting rooms paired with a relaxing afternoon of bocce ball. All event participants will gather at the end of the day for a reception, celebration dinner and live auction.
As El Camino Hospital moves forward with a major investment in mental health services, including the construction of a new behavioral health building and the expansion of outpatient programs, El Camino Hospital Foundation is turning to the community for philanthropic support. The statistics are stunning:
- 25% of all adults and one fifth of all youths age 13-18 experience a serious mental health condition in a given year.
- Suicide is the third leading cause of death for young people age 15-24.
- The number of psychiatric beds in California has declined 30% over the past 15 years, even as the population has grown by 17%.
- Across the United States, only 38% of teens and 50% of adults who exhibit severe symptoms receive the help they need.
A shocking spate of teen suicides in Silicon Valley spurred El Camino Hospital to develop a specialty adolescent mental health program four years ago. There is now a growing waiting list for the eight-week, after-school course of outpatient therapy that is currently offered at two clinics, one in Mountain View and the other in Los Gatos. The soon to be built inpatient facility will give El Camino Hospital the additional capability of configuring a six to nine bed adolescent unit in order to provide a higher level of care when needed.
I invite you to partner with us by teeing up for teens as a participant of the El Camino Heritage Golf Tournament. Your support will help El Camino Hospital expand its mental health program and do its part to fill serious gaps in psychiatric care in our region, where others have closed their doors. You will directly impact the future of our youth in crisis, ensure families have access to the treatment they need and deserve, and ultimately benefit our entire community.
Whether it is for a friendly competition, the networking opportunity or the desire to give back, I hope you will join us on the links. If you have any questions about the golf tournament, please contact Kirsten Krimsley by email at firstname.lastname@example.org, phone at 650-988-4189 or use the link below.
We look forward to seeing you on October 20.
